Do I Have To Opt For Marriage Counseling?
Marriages have been broken since couples have conflicting issues that appear to them as non resolvable. When they begin to develop this issues very few couples resort to marriage counseling because they believe it won’t work for them yet when they decide to consider the success ratio of couples who engage for services of counselors, the number is very high.
Most people do not prefer counselors since they tend to look at past situations and think that counselors will not be of any help to them. When partners think of engaging counselors in their marriage in order for their marriage to work, there are a few things you need to put into consideration.
You should first determine the extent of your problems and if you really need to see a marriage counselor. Some problems are easily resolved by the partners themselves if they decide to sit down together and sort out the issues that have been disturbing them.
After you determine the extent of the issues and think that cannot be resolved without the both of you sitting down, you then need a counselor and this also requires you to determine to what extent it may assist your partner most women have been known to change after counseling but men it is a daunting task.
You have to determine if both of you are affectionate for each other, if you do not feel anything for your partner no matter what you do the counseling won’t succeed.
Another important thing that influences marriages is entering into a marriage while you are still immature. You need to look at the time you get married, if you got married when you are too young then probably you wouldn’t have gotten glimpse of what marriage entails and most of the time you will be in and out of counseling.
Thirdly you should know if both of you are ready for counseling or one of you wants a divorce, if one of you wants a divorce no matter what you do there is very little you can do to save the marriage.
If the answers to these questions are yes, then a marriage counselor will be the right person to salvage the marriage.
