Sydney Accommodation Deals How To Choose The Best For Your Pocket

July 16, 2012 · Posted in Family · Comment

Sydney accommodation, How to Find the Best Hot Deals Available: Sydney has indeed come a long way from the days when Captain Arthur Phillip decided to drop his anchor into the New South Wales Bay and hoist the flag there in 1788. What began as a simple cove, developed into a prison in the eighteenth century and after the Second World War years, Sydney finally evolved into what it is today. A beautiful place for tourists to explore with its well known landmark of the Sydney Opera House overlooking the harbour.

Today a trip to Sydney offers all the aforesaid and more. A wonderful temperate climate awaits the traveller, beautiful coastlines hugged by lush park-lands, gardens and cafeterias. There are modern arcades, shopping malls, markets and fascinating art galleries, and museums housing historical colonial artifacts to enjoy. A drive around the Sydney suburbs with their neatly trimmed and manicured lawns, gardens and hedges is sheer pleasure.

There is certainly no dearth of suitable accommodation deals available in Sydney. It all depends of course on your personal requirements. Browse the internet and you will be delighted to find a huge choice of wonderful accommodation deals. To name but a few, there are inexpensive hotels, motels, chalets, bed and breakfast establishments, lodges and apartments available. Find the very best deals by browsing the internet. Most web sites of Sydney and surrounds accommodation deals will provide you with pop up deals most suitable for your travel needs.

You may find that your best accommodation deal will be to stay at one of the top hotels during their out of season rates. Or you can simply type in best deal into their web sites and find multiple graphs and prices. These internet sites are simple to use and most will offer a good description of what is on offer and a picture and route map for your needs.

I found a few lodges at really reasonable prices for staying in Sydney on a shoestring. Although bathroom facilities are shared, the room is complete with remove colour television, fridge and free internet. The only requirement is that you stay two nights. For not much more, you can find accommodation at a two star hotel which can accommodate three people, with one queen size bed and a single bunk above the queen, a shower, toilet, air-conditioning and television. Everything is dependent on your needs.

You may like to think about staying just outside the central business district of Sydney to find less expensive accommodation and better deals. There is for example, a four star hotel nearby which has en-suite accommodation and continental breakfasts or more luxurious accommodation nearby which gives the same perks but includes a hot buffet breakfast which you can have served in your room or enjoy in the hotel dining room. Most offer free parking and free use of air-conditioners and internet.

If you are looking for the best for your pocket, your best bet would be to select the nicest place you would like to stay in and from there, click on the live hot deals which are available on the internet. You may be delightfully surprised to find that you can get more for your money and enjoy first class accommodation as well.

Likewise, if you take a look at accommodation of varying types outside the central business district of Sydney, you could very well end up paying far less. Ensure, however, that you do not end up paying more for transport costs which would be self-defeating. A few regions to consider would be North Sydney, Greenwich, Crows Nest, Neutral Bay, McMahons Point, Cremorne, Watsons Bay, Dover Heights, North Bondi, Paddington, Glebe or Birchgrove. You are sure to get the best deals in accommodation for each area over the internet.

Encinitas California Is Surfing And Beaches

June 29, 2012 · Posted in Travel · Comment

Encinitas is a lovely beach town along the Pacific Ocean just north of San Diego. There are other cute towns along the coast, but Encinitas is special, quite different from other beach towns in San Diego county because it is lost in time ” locked in the 1960s. To feel the flavor of this little town, here are seven things you must do while visiting.

1. Spend The Day In A Rainforest

Lovely Quail Botanical Gardens is less than a mile from the Pacific Ocean with more than 32 acres full of endangered and extraordinary plants from all around the world. Tours and nature walks each day take visitors down the wonderfully scenic trails (with killer views of the ocean!), through totally unique tropical gardens, arid desert gardens, enormous bamboo groves, California native plant gardens, a rainforest with its own waterfall, Mediterranean gardens, tropical fruit gardens and a unique children’s garden. At once beautiful and serene, Quail Gardens is a place to spend an entire day simply enjoying nature in all its splendor.

2. Yes, You CAN Learn To Surf

Famous Kahuna Bobs Surfing School has been training SoCal surfers for nearly 23 years. He taught me to surf in 1999. His entertaining and totally unique teaching methods put you right at ease when you are learning ” and its a load of fun. The Kahuna is so good that the City awarded him the only surf-lesson license at the best beginner surfing beach in all of Encinitas (Beacons Beach) where waves almost always break perfectly for beginners and experts alike.

3. Become A Beach Boy (or Beach Girl)

World renown Swamis Beach was put on the map by the Beach Boys in 1963 when they sang about Surfin USA. Nearly fifty years later, Swamis draws the best surfers on the planet, making for exciting entertainment when watching them from above. An enormous staircase takes you down to the beach if you want to be closer, while picnic tables and benches up-top near the cliff edge give you an eagles view of phenomenal surfing feats.

4. Take In A Movie ” At A Real-Life Movie House

If you wax nostalgic for a real old-time movie theater, take in a film at La Paloma Theatre, where they feature first-run hits, art movies and surf/skate/snowboard/music film premieres. Its THE place to see Rocky Horror Picture Show. La Paloma Theatre was built in 1928, and was one of the first theatres to show “Talkies” in 1927 with the Warner Brothers film “The Jazz Singer” starring Al Jolson.

5. Ommmmm and Meditate At A Real Temple

Swami Yogananda came to town in 1936 and built the Self-Realization Temple on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. His philosophy of love and introspection still attracts thousands of followers from around the world. The beautiful Self-Realization Fellowship grounds ” lush gardens and Koi ponds ” are open to the public each day. Here you can walk, meditate, breathe deeply and put life into perspective ” the only sounds you might hear are singing birds and the pounding of the surf on the cliffs below.

6. Work On Your Tan

The most popular beach in all of North County San Diego is Moonlight Beach, just two blocks from downtown – its a wonderful spot to soak up sun, enjoy a picnic, play volleyball, surf, boogie-board, body surf, read a book, watch other people people-watch or simply take it easy. Its a state park complete with plenty of parking, fine life guard stations, beach-gear rentals, showers, playground, snack and lunch shop and even fire-rings on the beach where you and your friends can enjoy bonfires late into the night.

7. Watch The Sun Set Over The Ocean From Your Private Hot Tub

The Inn at Moonlight Beach is a romantic little Inn perched on a hillside above Moonlight Beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the quaint beach town. It’s a magical place of sand, sea, sun and surf. 4 lovely ocean-view suites recall a French-European Seaside Inn with spotless private baths, wi-fi internet, refrigerator and Cable TV. All this, yet prices are $50 – $75 less than other Bed & Breakfast Inns in San Diego. Inquire about the Penthouse Suite with its own private balcony and very private hot tub overlooking Pacific Ocean sunsets.

The author is the former president of a Carlsbad corporation who quit to follow his love of exploring the ocean and whales. Hunefeld and his wife Ann Dunham own the Inn At Moonlight Beach in Encinitas near Del Mar and San Diego. For more information visit: Solana Beach Bed and Breakfasts or Carlsbad B&B.

How to Spot the Best Deals among Koh Samui Hotels?

June 16, 2012 · Posted in Travel · Comment

Thailand is attracting international tourists because of its verdant landscape and splendid beaches. Koh Samui is an unspoiled island, beckoning visitors to enjoy the sun, sand and the sea. The fact that the island has hotels in a wide budget range makes it a preferred tourist destination. From ultra luxury Samui hotels with 6-star facilities to those fitting the wallets of budget travelers and backpackers are present for tourists to take advantage of.

With so many hotels coming up in such short time, visitors to this beautiful island are the ultimate gainers. The high competition among the hotels has lead to drastic slashing of rates and unbelievable discounts. Here, it is possible to stay in a five-star Samui hotel for the rate of three-star accommodation. But selecting hotels after looking at the rates alone can be disastrous, as the quality may not be good enough.

There are two surefire methods of choosing a good hotel at the lowest tariff possible. The first one is booking rooms through an online agent. And, the second method is to book the hotel directly as a repeat guest. Koh Samui hotels offer huge discounts for repeat guests, if asked for the same. As the second option is available only to those who have visited the island earlier, online booking agents are the best bet for first-time visitors.

There are scores of hotel booking websites with numerous hotels listed in them. These sites also provide detailed information about their tariffs, discounts, images, facilities and even reviews written by past guests. The tariffs offered in these sites are the lowest, as hotels give them huge concessions for the enormous volume of booking they bring in. These rates are not given to even walk-in guests.

Even in these sites, the lowest tariff for Koh Samui hotels is offered when booking is done months in advance. Some of the sites even arrange transportation and tour packages for tourists. Using the sites not only gets you a steal deal, it also helps in planning the entire vacation.

If you’re looking for a good Koh Samui Accommodation, we have some nice ones. Let us show you these exclusive Koh Samui Resorts right now.

Del Mar – A Surfing Beach Town Lost In Time

June 6, 2012 · Posted in Travel · Comment

Del Mar is a dream town – an upscale ocean-side community just north of San Diego. Within the city limits, a quaint historical village serves as a backdrop to a small seaside resort first made famous in the 1930′s when Bing Crosby, Jimmy Durante and other race horse lovers from Hollywood built the horse race track at the fairgrounds.

1. The Place To Be Is Epazote

The downtown area has a definite European flavor. More than seventy unique shops, cute hotels and 23 restaurants offer enough variety to please everybody. The artsy “Italian” outdoor mall, The Plaza, is at the north end of town at the corner of Highway 101 and 15th Street, where you will find trendy shops and unique bistros among the ironwork and tiled fountains of an Italian piazza.

The plaza is the home of Epazote, a local restaurant favorite. It’s a wonderful place for lunch or end of the day cocktails because it has an outdoor patio that swells with sunshine, sea breezes and enchanting panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. It’s also one of Del Mar’s favorite nightlife destinations with a contemporary, upscale vibe. Sleek and sophisticated, with a 180-degree views of the Pacific, hip bar and a cutting edge ocean view lounge, Epazote is a great day or night experience. Oh, and did I mention the food? All of it is creative, unique and wonderful.

2. Take A Hike Through Time

If you enjoy a nature hike with phenomenal scenery, Torrey Pines State Reserve is for you, with nearly 2000 acres of natural habitat along the ocean. The reserve was created because this is where the rare and beautiful Torrey Pine tree grows. You will find 6 or 7 trails for hiking, each with it’s own brand of awesome views: wind bent Torrey pines, abstract rock formations and lush wildflower displays, all framed by the magnificent Pacific Ocean. Parking Tip: You can park outside the park along the ocean and Highway 101 for free, then walk up the drive into the reserve for a great workout with magnificent views. Take your camera – especially in the spring when fields of wild flowers are in bloom and everywhere you look are fantastic views of the ocean.

3. Up, Up and Away

Every evening we see them from Encinitas – hot air balloons, specs in the distance, soaring through the sky just before sunset after taking off. We have been “up there” and can testify that a balloon ride is a one-of-a-kind experience. You can’t help but gain a unique perspective of the immenseness of the Pacific Ocean and sweeping San Diego countryside. Our usual sunny skies and calm morning and evening winds allow you to experience what it’s like to float among the clouds. Hot air balloon companies have sunrise and sunset tours – weather permitting.

Many describe flying in a hot air balloon as one of the most serene, enjoyable activities they’ve ever experienced. Sunny skies and heavenly sunsets allow you to experience what it’s like to float among the clouds. If you’re staying at a hotel, you can experience the views of a lifetime with Skysurfrer Balloon Tours, Magical Adventures or Sky’s The Limit Balloon Adventures. Google or Bing! them for more information.

4. World-Class Beaches

The beaches are very popular because the waves are usually gentle and it’s a great place to learn to surf. With more than two miles of sandy beaches and excellent conditions for swimming and body surfing or just lounging in the sun. The beaches are a vacationer’s delight. A nearby bed and breakfast in Encinitas is located only a block from Moonlight Beach, and is appropriately named the Inn at Moonlight Beach. On some beaches, residents are allowed to bring their dogs and spectators enjoy great games of dog/human Frisbee. No matter what beach you’re on, you’ll see hundreds of people spending the whole day under the sun with friends and family. The best and most popular beach is at the end of 15th Street – crowded year around with families, couples, friends and surfers. A good selection of hotels and inns can be found near the beaches.

5. Pedal Around Town

Bike riding is one of the simplest ways to have fun, enjoy the wonderful Del Mar scenery, especially if you’re staying at a B&B or other vacation lodging. With near-perfect weather all year, enjoying the great outdoors is a way of life for most Del Martians who enjoy riding down quiet residential streets along the ocean. Del Mar is full of paths and trails that give cyclists an opportunity to relax, exercise and explore. Any way you cut it, Del Mar is a great place to have fun, get fit, and relax!

Carlos von Hunnefeld can be found in the most lovely cities anywhere on earth. He travels for a San Diego California design firm and will be found traveling more than four months annually. When friends come to San Diego, Carlos recommends a wonderful Del Mar Bed and Breakfast or an exquisite Del Mar Beach Hotels.

Hunter Valley Accommodation For NSW Travelers

December 23, 2011 · Posted in Food and Drinks · Comment

Hunter Valley accommodation in NSW, Australia comes in many shapes and sizes in different locations. It includes hotels, motels and many other forms of lodging scattered over 11 local government areas in an area spread over 12,000 square kilometres. Needless to say, it’s not an easy ask to sift through all the options.

Hunter is 2-3 hours out from Sydney, with the exact distance varying based on the choice of region or town. It’s not hard to understand why the place is the 6th most popular destination in Australia (2.5 million visitors annually) given its proximity to Sydney. It may also be because of the lush green beauty and the wineries that churn out gazillions of Chardonnays, Cabernet Sauvignons and Pinot Noirs.

It might be helpful to consider which destinations and what kind of lodging are popular among these millions of visitors. The main city is Newcastle, but as far as a wine country getaway is concerned, the best choice is likely a stay in the Pokolbin region. It is the oldest wine producer in Australia and is situated in the heart of the wine country, right between the gateway city of Cessnock on one side and Branxton on the other.

There are 120 over wineries, so visitors can pick and choose from a whole bunch of wine tours. The lodging options are also just as numerous, and visitors can enjoy old Colonial mansions filled with the latest modern facilities and amenities. There are 5 star hotels and golf resorts, as well as cosy guesthouses and bed & breakfasts, as well as cheap hostels and motels.

Apart from the wine tours, dining and shopping, visitors staying in Pokolbin will enjoy views of the Brokenback Mountains and a visit to the famous Hunter Valley Gardens. There are also activities that are very popular like hot-air ballooning. Note that weekend stays here get filled up very fast, so they usually have a 2-night minimum stay requirement for weekend bookings.

Aside from Pokolbin’s array of choices and some cheap hostels and holiday parks in Cessnock, other popular destinations here are the Wollombi Valley and Barrington Tops. The National Park in Barrington Tops is only 3 hours from Sydney, and gets a lot of visitors looking for some fun in the outdoors. The isolated cottages and cabins here offer an outdoorsy and secluded getaway.

Wollombi accommodations are also just as good for an outdoors vacation. There are cabins up in the hillside near Wollombi Village and overlooking the vineyards. It is a favourite haunting ground for bushwalkers, birdwatchers, artists and photographers.

To sum it up, Hunter Valley accommodation depends partly on the type of vacation, length of stay and the destination chosen. A weekend stay for wine lovers or tourists is best enjoyed in Pokolbin. But those looking for something more – maybe a quiet getaway, an extended stay or perhaps a vacation in the outdoors – should look at the other choices including Cessnock, the Wollombi Valley and Barrington Tops.

John Bryce-Thornton found his way to this popular NSW region accompanied by a zeal for blogging pertaining to red wine and also superb cuisine. He before long made the decision he had identified his place in life and set about setting up his private Hunter Valley accommodation that he currently carries on for all those individuals to the area.

Carlsbad California – Fun Activities Visitors Must Not Miss

October 28, 2011 · Posted in Travel · Comment

The moment you arrive in Carlsbad, you feel the rest of the world magically fading away. It is the beach and the sound of the waves? Is it the gorgeous sunsets over the Pacific Ocean? Is it communing with Mother Nature? There is so much to do in this wonderful village by the sea that we had to work hard to identify the six things that every visitor MUST do before returning home.

1. One of the most beautiful sites on the West Coast, Carlsbad’s famous Flower Fields are transformed into fifty acres of visual splendor each spring from March through early May, framed by the magnificent vistas of the sparkling Pacific ocean. Children can run around and blow off steam while adults linger and enjoy the quiet on the color-filled hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

2. Batiquitos Lagoon is a coastal salt marsh with tidal mud flats – one of the few remaining wetlands in California. Many native plants and more than 185 species of birds can be seen at the lagoon. The lagoon is a destination for nature lovers of all types – bird watchers, artists, joggers, naturalists, hikers and plant lovers love the three miles of trails – trails renown as quiet places for exercise, meditation or simply contemplation. Free naturalist-led tours are offered some weekdays and most weekends.

3. If you have kids, don’t miss Legoland. This unique theme park provides a very pleasant experience for both children AND parents. The park is clean, pleasantly landscaped and alive with color. Adults enjoy “Miniland” where entire city skylines are recreated with Legos. Attractive cafs with reasonable prices offer tasty yet healthy choices for hungry kids (try the apple fries). Lines to ride the attractions are short compared to Disneyland, especially first thing in the morning.

4. Downtown Carlsbad has the charm of a European village. Its wide tree-lined streets and sidewalks make it a great place for walking and exploring. Visitors will find cute boutiques, rare antique shops, unusual gift stores, delightful restaurants and cafes, picturesque hotels, stunning art galleries, quaint pubs and architecturally significant historic homes. A well-known landmark is the Alt Karlsbad House, site of the first mineral water spa in Carlsbad, built in the 1880s.

5. The Carlsbad Farmer’s Market in the Village is a fun and lively bazaar. Visitors and locals alike flock here to buy local fruits and vegetables and other unique and hard-to-find products. The market is open every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon and is located on Roosevelt between Grand and Carlsbad Village Drive.

6. The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Nature and Discovery Center features a native garden with nearly a thousand California native plants of more than 50 different species. Visitors can walk short trails lined with educational panels explaining Agua Hedionda Lagoon and its flora and fauna. Seven species of sage, five varieties of Manzanita, five varieties of wild lilac, and a selection of coffeeberry, buckwheat, currants, honeysuckle and fuschia grow in the garden. The Discovery Center features many interesting and informative exhibits offering glimpses into the lives of Native Americans who once inhabited the area.

Historic buildings have been relocated to Gaslamp from other parts of the San Diego, their nineteenth century architecture restored to its former glory. Restaurants, shops and clubs occupy former brothels and saloons. The nightlife is throbbing and vibrant 365 days a year. The Quarter is home to many events and festivals, including San Diego’s Mardi Gras, Taste of Gaslamp and the city’s St. Patrick’s Day events ensuring that the Gaslamp Quarter will remain one of San Diego’s favorite travel destinations.

2. John D. and Adolph Spreckels donated the Spreckels Organ, one of the world’s largest outdoor pipe organs, to the City of San Diego in 1914 for the Panama-California Exposition. This unique organ contains 4,530 pipes ranging in length from the size of a pencil to 32 feet and is housed in an ornate vaulted structure with highly embellished gables. Since 1917, San Diego has had a civic organist who performs free weekly Sunday concerts.

3. At dusk on the first Wednesday of each month, following the monthly “Sky Tonight” planetarium show in the Space Theater of the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, members of the San Diego Astronomy Association set up big telescopes by the large fountain in Balboa Park for free public sky viewing. See Saturn’s rings through a big telescope as well as the moon, planets, nebulae and globular clusters – up close and personal.

4. The San Diego Natural History Museum is where you will have fun combining education with knowledge. See the huge tree in the front yard? It’s a Moreton Bay fig tree that has been documented as one of the largest of this species in the state. Inside you’ll find a Foucault Pendulum that gives visual proof of Earth’s rotation. You can become mesmerized watching it swing back and forth, knocking over a circle of dominos with no force acting to make it change direction other than the turning of the Earth beneath it. Wow!

5. Explore the tide pools in LaJolla at low tide and see strange and unusual life forms. There’s lots to see if you look closely: scuttling hermit crabs, colorful sea anemones, real octopus, creepy dead man’s fingers and cavernous gaping barnacles. Many of these creatures shelter under rocks or bury themselves in the sand; some use their camouflage to hide in plain sight. Like a hidden puzzle, tide pools must be examined carefully to reveal their treasures. San Diego travel tip: look closely!

6. How can we not mention the beach? With over 65 miles of coastline, this best part of San Diego is absolutely free – and all the beaches are just perfect for trying your hand at surfing or boogie-boarding.

Hotels In Noosa Might Be Convenient For Exploring Australia’s Sunshine Coast

October 19, 2011 · Posted in Travel · Comment

Hotels in Noosa Heads include the Quay West Resort & Spa, and the Noosa Sheraton Resort & Spa. Many holidaymakers will find these to be an excellent base from which they may explore the Sunshine Coast of the Australian State of Queensland. The coast encompasses several beach side towns in a 100 km stretch to the north of Brisbane. The area has its own airport, at Marcoola, although Brisbane airport could be used as an alternative. Inland from the coast is an attractive, mountainous hinterland. The resort towns of Maleny and Montville are often visited by those spending some time in the mountains. The hinterland ranges include the strange Glasshouse mountains. These are rocky plugs, projecting through an otherwise flat landscape. They are in fact a volcanic formation, the solidified core of extinct volcanoes. The softer pyroclastic cone (originally ash from the eruption) has been eroded, just leaving the harder rocks which solidified in the lava pipe.

The Sunshine Coast of Queensland encompasses several beach side towns in a 100 km stretch to the north of Brisbane. The region has its own airport, Sunshine Coast Airport (MCY), which is 10 km from Maroochydore at Marcoola. There are daily flights from Sydney and from Melbourne. Brisbane Airport could be used as an alternative to Marcoola.

Cooloola, at the northern end of the region, is a gateway to the Great Sandy National Park. The World Heritage listed Fraser Island section of the park lies over the Great Sandy Strait from the Cooloola (mainland) section. The Great Sandy Strait is a 70 kilometre strait, with a complex landscape, including mangroves, sandbanks and mud islands, salt marsh and seagrass.

It forms an important habitat for many species, including dugongs (sea cows), turtles, and dolphins, and a roosting site for many species of birds which migrate from Japan or China to Australia. Part of the strait is listed as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention.

At River Heads the Mary River flows into the strait. A proposed dam on the Mary River has been a source of environmental controversy, both in Australia and overseas. Environmentalists fear for the future of unique local species like the Mary River Cod and the Mary River Turtle. Also affected would be the Queensland Lungfish. Although this is not unique to the Mary River, it is nevertheless critically endangered. Lungfish are of particular scientific interest, as they are a remnant of the evolutionary step between fish and land animals.

The Mary Valley Heritage Railway runs steam excursions along the valley of the Mary River. Gympie, a former gold rush town, is the location of the terminus station. The station itself, in Tozer Street, dates back to the gold rush in the 1900s.

The steam excursions are hauled by a preserved C17 engine of Queensland Railways. This 4-8-0 narrow gauge is one of almost 30 survivors from an original class of 250 members. Eight survivors are already restored to working order, or are at an advanced state of restoration.

Other attractions around Gympie include the Gold Mining and Historical Museum, and the WoodWorks museum. The so-called Gympie Pyramid is a minor attraction, although research has shown that it is not an ancient structure, but was built by a horticulturalist in the nineteenth century to prevent erosion.

Ruth Grant was raised in the south coast of Victoria Australia well before shifting to Noosa to follow her aspiration of getting active in the regional accommodation industry. She’s recently set up her own Noosa accommodation online business which offers a selection of both affordable and expensive choices.
