Pearls of Wisdom Series 4 Exam: How to Cram for a Test

April 10, 2012 · Posted in Education · Comment

Those people, who wish to take up stock brokering or security trading as their careers, need to pass the series 643 test. This examination is governed by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) for the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA). Once you pass this test, you can trade securities in whichever state you wish. This test consists of 65 questions that need to be completed in no more than 75 minutes. All of them are in multiple choice format. As of January 2010, a minimum passing score of 72 % has been set. It is anything but necessary, that candidates must prepare exhaustively before they sit for this test. This article will focus on the main steps towards the series 63 test prep.

The Series 6 exam is a multiple choice test of 100 questions. The test focuses on securities types such as: Common and preferred stock, corporate and government securities, taxation, customer accounts, SEC/NASD rules, mutual funds, annuities, and variable insurance products.

The Series 6 is given on computer at select testing centers throughout the country for those that have been registered and been approved to sit for the exam. 70% is the passing grade and you will be notified of your pass or fail once the computer exam has concluded.

Step 3: Plan your meal ahead of time and stay hydrated. A simple protein, complex carb, and fiber meal should suffice. It can’t be too rich or filling. If it is, you could risk getting sleepy. It takes an incredible amount of energy to remember and analyze all that stuff, so please eat right. A good example of a meal would be a cut banana with a slice of whole wheat bread smeared with peanut butter and a yogurt. A bottle of green tea is a good choice for beverage. It has a suitable amount of caffeine and is a healthier option than soda.

Registration of securities: Another important section that makes up 25% of the remaining questions.

Step 5: Now that you have everything labeled, typed up and listed, get to remembering them by using music. Yep you guessed it, generate a simple verse of song to help with retaining the information. Studies have suggested that songs activate a section of the brain in charge of memory. If you aren’t into this method or if you want to try more, go on to Step 6.

When the test is over, you can review your answer choices on questions you “marked for review” before you end the exam. This test feature is helpful on questions you were unsure of and wish to go over them again. You don’t want to change too many. I believe in the old test saying: “your first guess is usually your best guess”. Sometimes students look at past questions at the end because they had spent too much time on the question earlier and they just “guessed”, hoping to have another look at it later. That is a good way to use the changing answers feature. You have 135 minutes to complete the exam. That is usually plenty of time. You want to practice your timing while studying at home.

This is not a hard test, but it requires consistency in studying and some memorization. Pass the updated practice exams and you will walk in that room fully confident and ready to pass the exam and get your Series 6 License.

Online College Programs – How to Apply

April 6, 2012 · Posted in Education · Comment

The first step to getting your online degree is to apply to colleges. Research several colleges offering the degree program you need. Once you have decided on a school, you are ready to begin the application process. While the requirements may vary slightly, most colleges have similar processes. You will need to fill out an application, either online or on paper. Check with the university for application deadlines. Just about all schools charge an application fee; these fees are usually small.

In the majority of schools these tests are basic and not difficult to pass. However, it is still urged that you study hard before taking it. Without the right preparation you may find yourself at a lower level than you would wish and you could lose important college time necessary to meet your academic degree.

A remarkable college degree is not the only passport for you to succeed. It will only enhance and nurture your skills but it does not have any abilities to immediately bring you to success. As a student you should always remember that your own future will depend on your own abilities and not on your chosen course alone. The things that will surely help you to succeed are your real interest and innate skills. Moreover time is also a very important factor that will affect your future. You should always see to it that you are going to spend your time in a productive way. It is very difficult once you have wasted your time. According to psychologists it is possible for a person to experience disappointment in his or her career and even frustration if his or her developmental tasks are not attained in time.

Many schools require students pass placement tests prior to registering for classes. These tests usually have English, math and writing components. This is to determine if potential students have the reading, writing and math skills necessary to succeed in college. If you don’t pass one of the placement tests, you may be required to take remedial courses prior to starting your degree; this is not unusual for people returning to school after many years. Graduate programs will usually require additional testing, such as the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).

When you apply to the school, you can also apply for financial aid. Talk to a representative about programs available to students in the form of financial aid and scholarships. Start the process by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Complete the application even if you don’t think you will qualify for federal aid. Most other student loan programs use the same application. To be able to accept federal financial aid, the school must be regionally accredited. Accreditation is a voluntary process and matters mainly for financial aid and transferring credit to other universities. Check with an admissions counselor if you’re not sure about accreditation.

Once you have completed all applications and testing, you will find out if you have been accepted into the program. Once you have been accepted, you will be eligible to register for classes and begin the journey toward your college degree. The admissions counselor at your university can assist you in scheduling your courses. There is often an order in which classes should be taken. Once you have registered, you pay for your classes, get your books and attend orientation, if required.

Advice for Becoming Certified to Teach English

April 6, 2012 · Posted in Education · Comment

Certification is an important step in any industry. Mechanics get certifications to work on cars, aviators get certified to pilot large aircraft, and teachers are often required to get certification before they can be employed to educate their students.

Since teachers take on the important role of educating our population, it it in everyone’s best interest that they be officially certified in their field of expertise. Public schools often require a general teacher’s certificate with a specific certification added on for any particular area that they may specialize in.

First – CELTA training will provide you with well-founded teaching tools and skills that will stand you in good stead once you begin teaching. The CELTA course is rigorously monitored so quality is highly constant across a variety of different schools, institutions and organizations that offer it.

National Teaching Certificates -For those US individuals who would like to have the freedom to teach students from kindergarten to twelfth grade in any state, the National Board for Teaching Professional Teaching Standards can supply a voluntary national teaching certificate.

Third – Almost all officially recognized CELTA programs have job placement services for their graduates, which means you can land your first job before you leave the USA. You’ll have local contacts provided for you and the reputation of the school behind you as well. You may even be able to get leads on a second or even third position from your CELTA course provider as time ticks on if you need a change. This offers an excellent introduction to teaching while helping to minimize elements of the “culture shock” often experienced during your first overseas job.

Fourth – A CELTA course is designed to prepare you for the realities of teaching EFL abroad to learners who may know little or no English. With the confidence and ability to teach English to foreign learners without a knowledge of their L1 is an important skill that will often place you head and shoulders above many other “local” English teachers who frequently rely heavily on use of the learners’ L1 (first language).

Fifth – Taking the CELTA in the USA, an English-speaking country, will enable you to start preparing your own “care package” of materials before you leave for your new job. It happens that many locations where we find ourselves teaching English simply do not have an extensive array of materials available. At home in the USA however, virtually any materials you’d like to use is not only available in abundance, but is usually dirt cheap as well.

Critical-Care Nurse – Helping the Patient With Life-Threatening Problems

April 5, 2012 · Posted in Education · Comment

Critical care nursing represents a vitally important component to any emergency care facility or situation. These individuals provide support and care to individuals who face life threatening illnesses and injuries. Working with emergency physicians and other medical professionals, critical care nurses help save lives and prevent more serious injuries and complications.

The Critical care nurses can fill various roles from the bedside clinicians, nurse educators, nurse managers, until nurse practitioners. The job of the nurses now is not only to treat the sick patients.

Most major hospitals offer certification courses as well as the opportunity to take the exam. Once you’re enrolled in a class, it will take about a semester to complete the coursework.

There will be a critical-care training course that you must take before you become a critical care nurse. The training course will provide you the information and the knowledge you need to treat the critical patients. It is even better if you take the certification since some employers prefer to hire the certified nurses.

The American Association of Critical Care Nurses states that the primary role of the nurse is to act as a patient advocate for individuals in critical conditions. In doing so, the nurse supports the patient and family by providing information so that these individuals can make informed decisions about treatment and, if needed, life support. Nurses also provide immediate support and care for those individuals who cannot speak for themselves because of injury or illness during life threatening situations.

Related to the job, the nurses are educated with the knowledge beyond their basic education as the RN or the Registered Nurse. The advanced knowledge is a must since they face the critically ill patient and the family’s member which have more needs than ordinary patients.

As it stated above, before you can be critical care nurse, you must be a RN or Registered Nurse. However, the requirement is different from country to country. You can see the student’s exposure in many nursing schools. Becoming a RN, it means you will need to get BSN or Bachelor Degree in Nursing and pass the exam for the national license.

Are You Studying For the ACT Exam?

April 5, 2012 · Posted in Education · Comment

So, you’re getting ready to take the ACT and you’ve heard whispers about ACT classes? It’s a pivotal moment in your life and the ACT will be a strong indicator of which schools you’ll be accepted to. You shouldn’t leave something like this to chance. This is a daunting task and more than one individual has been humbled by the complex questions on the ACT. You need help! This article will provide you information about ACT classes so that you’ll be ready for success.

It’s not enough to realize that with 60 questions in 60 minutes for the Math test, for instance, that you should spend no more than one minute per question. What students need is a really detailed, practical way of improving their time management skills.

It is generally recommended that students take the ACT test at least 2 months prior to the application deadline for colleges or scholarships because the results are usually mailed between 3 and 7 weeks after the examination. Many students find it advantageous to take the test during their junior year because most of the course work required for the test has been completed by the end of the junior year, the scores are completed in enough time to send to colleges and students who do poorly will have time to take the test one or two times to raise their scores.

Most students who have taken the ACT test find that the scores do not reflect their intelligence but rather their determination to test well and study. A common thread in students who have done well is that they enjoy reading and it does not mean you have to enjoy reading from the age of 2 and you can start at any time. In fact, you can start right now. Get out to the library and pick up two books. Spend 30 minutes each night before bed reading a book. This helps to relax your mind before bed and improves your ability to do well on the test.

Another great ACT classes provider is Princeton Review. They’re also one of the biggest names in testing providers. Now, their website offers the most diverse selection that I’ve come across. They offer private tutoring, small group instruction, classroom courses, online courses, and ACT books. A lot of their courses are offered at locations near you and if you input your address then you can easily navigate between a plethora of different classroom locations in your area. The fees for their classes range in the $1000s.

Step 4: Practice the Calculations -It is surprising to see that many students are not proficient at the math skills necessary to manage the clock, so be prepared to practice this critical technique. For instance, if the clock says it is 8:14 and you are starting the English test, what time will you be halfway through? The answer, 8:36, should be written down on the test booklet before going to the first question so you can look at it and the clock periodically. Be able to instantly calculate the benchmark times from any starting time.

ACT classes are crucial to scoring well on your exam. They simulate real questions and conditions that you will face when taking the actual ACT. Even if you’re a strong test-taker you should consider taking them because of the simulated added pressure. Often times, the brightest students are humbled by the pressures of a standardized test. Tests are long, tiring, and scary! Facing this kind of intellectual strain in a simulated environment could be the difference between a 25 and a 30 (Exam goes up to 36).

When trying to cipher through reputable providers you should take these factors into consideration: cost, value, location, and prestige.

By watching the clock, comparing the time to your benchmark times, and having the discipline to move on from questions that could get you bogged down, you will master the Time Management aspect of the ACT and get your best score.

Crack the New SAT Test – Simple Strategies Great Results

April 5, 2012 · Posted in Education · Comment

The score reporting policy of College Board makes it important for SAT applicants to work on new techniques to get decent SAT scores.

Question: How should I study?

The SAT will test your critical thinking, writing/reading and English skills. The ACT will test your abilities in remembering facts, utilizing information and your comprehension of the sciences. Some might say people who are logical would thrive on the ACT while those who think more freely might prefer the SAT.

Start Early -Students should take the PSAT to acquaint them with the SAT test. It would be a smart move to take the PSAT in the sophomore year. Visit the website of College Board to see the test dates. Chalking out a plan for SAT test preparation a year in advance can help fetch high SAT scores. Students should make sure that the SAT test date does not clash with their midterms or baseball championship.

Answer: It’s best to look for three things. These are your strengths, and your weaknesses, and the outline of the test,. Don’t rush when taking the practice tests. Sure, the real SAT is a timed test, but for your first practice test, do not time yourself. Just take it easy. You want to carefully read all sections of the test. Get familiar with these sections and the directions. This will help on the day of the test. When grading your practice tests, you can see your strengths and weakness. Then simply focus on improving your weaknesses.

Question: Should I take an SAT prep course?

Each section is worth 800 points, with all three sections a total of 2,400. Most schools value performance based on the combined reading and math score that has a maximum total of 1600, so it is important to concentrate on preparing for those two sections. When students compare combined critical reading and math scores, you will also discover that the writing section score can skew a overall total score. Universities sometimes will use the writing section on either test for course placement.

Question: Should I buy an SAT study guide?

You can also get good results with a disciplined approach, perhaps a one-on-one tutor and a good SAT guide book. If you chose a one-on-one tutor, they should help you in the SAT content areas, as well as, give you strategies in how to take the test.

I must unveil a secret about the SAT test. Hold your breath. Here is the secret that most test preparation institutes hide from you- SAT is not a complex test; it’s a simple test designed to access your reasoning skills. And as the saying goes “Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated”, the hype pertaining to the SAT has created a monster-like image of the test in our minds!

Online College Programs – How to Apply

April 5, 2012 · Posted in Education · Comment

The first step to getting your online degree is to apply to colleges. Research several colleges offering the degree program you need. Once you have decided on a school, you are ready to begin the application process. While the requirements may vary slightly, most colleges have similar processes. You will need to fill out an application, either online or on paper. Check with the university for application deadlines. Just about all schools charge an application fee; these fees are usually small.

You will need to include any supporting documentation required by the school where you are applying. You will find this information included with the application. All schools require original transcripts from all schools previously attended. This will include both high school and college transcripts. A few schools look for college preparatory courses in high school. Send your requests early to allow enough time for transcripts to arrive at the college. Some schools will require SAT test scores and immunization records as well.

You will have to meet the admission requirements of the college you will be attending. The requirements vary by school and in some cases can be different based on your major. Be sure to check with the university to determine the requirements. Many schools have a minimum SAT score requirement for admission, although some waive this for some programs or for non traditional students. Non traditional students are defined as older students who have been out of high school for at least five years and have work experience. Students transferring from other institutions are in this category as well.

Every paper and essay must contain an introduction which is usually a paragraph two, depending on the overall length of the paper. In the introduction, students will state their thesis statement and well as a brief overview of what they will discuss in the body. The thesis statement is usually a sentence, maybe a couple, which clearly defines the purpose of the topic, argument, etc that is to be discussed throughout the paper.

The “meat” of the paper is the body paragraphs which can range from just a few to several depending on how long the paper is. The topics of the body paragraphs should be briefly mentioned in the introduction. In the body, students are encouraged to go into detail with their topics but must be careful not to go off on a tangent and accidentally introduce any new ideas.Wrapping up the paper, is where the conclusion takes place. In essence, this part of the paper is similar to the introduction in that it briefly discusses what topics are in the body as well as paraphrases the thesis statement. The conclusion reflects on the overall paper and can be helpful in making sure that all the necessary points were covered.

In these programs, residents work with the guidance of licensed physiotherapists. Residents are allowed to evaluate and diagnose patients while at the same time training in a specialty.

The tasks residents are permitted to perform are evaluating and diagnosing patients while simultaneously undergoing specialty training.

The practice of physical therapy is only allowed if the professional has obtained a license. Most states differ in their licensing requirements.
