Men’s Tungsten Wedding Bands Are Bad For Your Man

June 21, 2012 · Posted in Hobbies · Comment

Themed weddings seem to be the hit thing these days. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, even Harry Potter; the possibilities are endless. As a huge nerd, I was excited to hear that my best friend Angela was having a themed wedding, and it was going to be based on Harry Potter. Angela and I have been friends since kindergarten, so we grew up together. We were both avid readers, so it is to no surprise that Harry Potter was a series that we enjoyed. While the wedding was themed, the rings were not. For her husband’s band they went with a Men’s Tungsten Wedding Band. I never thought I’d see the day where one of my friends would have a themed wedding. They can often be tacky, and overdone. Sometimes people can get so caught up in the theme, that they forget that the whole purpose of a wedding is to marry two people in love. I was surprised to see that my best friend Angela was opting for a themed wedding with her husband.

Unfortunately for them the Tungsten ring they bought was a dud. It ended up breaking before the wedding, when it was supposed to be unbreakable.- I have known Angela my entire life, and throughout that we had always been huge Harry Potter fans. In first grade we were sitting in Ms. Pensa’s class and both of us picked up the first book-Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. From then on, we were hooked. Angela decided to use a conglomerate of all 7 books in the series to incorporate into her wedding. They had crazy flowers, and goblets as decorations, and each area of the catering hall was decorated like a house in Harry Potter. The lucky couple included themselves in the Gryffindor section of the room.

The wedding had been going perfectly-between the Hogwartsesque church, to the beautiful goblets people drank out of, the Harry Potter wedding seemed like a success. The ring breaking was a bump in the road to an otherwise fun and exciting ceremony. Instead of letting it upset the day though, Angela and her husband went on with the wedding as planned, and decided to put off replacing the ring until after their honeymoon.

To go along with the theme of the wedding, the couple decided to go to England for their honeymoon. Neither had been abroad before, and so it was an exciting experience. They went to King’s Cross Station to see the 9 platform, and then traveled by train to the castle where the movie was shot (unfortunately not by the Hogwarts express). They chose to enjoy their time abroad instead of worrying about their broken Men’s Tungsten Wedding Band. They planned to go back to the jeweler to get their money back upon returning to the states.

Just because they used a seemingly bad jeweler for their wedding bands, they realized that there is more to life than just a set of rings. They returned to the United States after a long and wonderful honeymoon and took care of the debacle. Angela and her husband certainly have set a high standard for what was one of the best themed weddings I have attended.

Tungsten Wedding Rings Are Attractive and Tasteful

The wedding band has evolved over time from a classic gold band to the more unique, alternative metals we know of today, seen in pieces such as the many different metals and styles of wedding band.Throughout the ages, rings have always symbolized passion, love and commitment. Tungsten Carbide is an extremely durable metal, virtually indestructible. The metal does not scratch or dull. Another thing you should consider if you want to buy 9mm tungsten wedding bands is to make sure they are made from the carbide compound. The carbide is the reason for the features of extreme hardness and resistance to scratches possessed by 9mm tungsten rings. Wedding bands that only have ordinary tungsten may be harder, but they are easier to crack and shatter, and are prone to abrasions. Make sure you get a tungsten carbide 9mm tungsten ring.

Because tungsten bands offer a rich coloration that compliments platinum, white gold and sterling silver, it can be worn with other accessories that a gentleman may already own. For some time now, the classic style of a band ring has remained atop of the jewelry trends. In addition to being comfortable to wear, the timeless appeal of a clean and polished look continues to be the perfect compliment to both casual and business attire. While some may wear a polished band as a wedding ring, others may simply prefer to enjoy its style as a right-hand ring. It’s important to note that tungsten bands rings may not be sizable, so make sure to purchase the correct size or check with your local jeweler regarding sizing policy. For some men wedding rings like tungsten rings is seen as an item of jewelry and wearing wedding rings like tungsten rings is, to them, like wearing a pair of earrings. For many men wearing jewelry is simply something that men do not do and wedding rings like tungsten rings are no exception. Again this is something that is becoming less of a problem over time and, while the wearing of earrings may still be some way off for most men, it is often seen as acceptable for a man to wear wedding rings like tungsten rings, or even tungsten rings as accessories.

Some people may think that a plain wedding band without any design elements such as central cables or edge stripes would look lackluster but nothing could be more mistaken. Vena Amori is the name given to this vein. However contemporary medical science has confirmed the belief untrue. The tradition of wearing a band comes from European but is now widely taken across the world.

Tungsten rings are a long lasting, cost friendly assortment when searching for your perfect wedding ring. The low selling price and unequaled qualities of the tungsten wedding band have also made it very popular & it is not just for marriage any longer. Many couples also seek ring styles that also feature their heritage making the Celtic 9mm tungsten ring a well known selling wedding band style.

Recently 9mm tungsten wedding bands featuring wood inlays have been manufactured. These 9mm tungsten rings styles feature a durable true wood band circling the ring. A wooden inlay is protected by tungsten on both edges, completely keeping the inlay safe. The 9mm tungsten ring is then coated a clear, luminescent coating, waterproofing the ring. Wood inlay tungsten bands are popular for Firemen, nature lovers and anyone wanting a unique ring.

Tungsten Wedding Rings Are Sophisticated and Classy

The wedding ring’s circle originally symbolized eternity. Yours could be made from one of the strongest metals known to man. The actual metal Tungsten has the highest melting point of all the alloyed metals (not that I am encouraging you to drop your ring in a volcano Lord of the Rings style). The metal is the heaviest metal known to be used by living organisms, such as enzymes.

It is also called wolfram, since it’s found commonly in the ores wolframite and scheelite respectively. According to John Daintith, it is remarkable that “its very high density is 19.3 times heavier than water, and 71% heavier than lead”. Jewelry allergy? It happens. Many people are allergic to gold, silver, platinum and zinc. The medical term is contact dermatitis and is defined as an inflammation of the skin caused by an irritating substance.

We’ve got good news from those who suffer from said irritation. Tungsten jewelry is completely hypoallergenic. With tungsten you won’t have to worry about your skin discoloring or getting those itchy rashes. Just be sure to avoid a skin irritation caused by a lower quality tungsten carbide ring made with cobalt, which you can do by purchasing a ring that is cobalt-free. You don’t have to worry about experiencing any health hazards because there is none. Tungsten is also four times harder than the ordinary tungsten ring. This means your ring will not get scratched, bent, or broken.

This may cause discoloration or color spots that cannot be removed by polishing or cleaning. Back tungsten wedding bands with a nickel-binder alloy are better choice because they do not oxidize & are also hypoallergenic. Thus, if you don’t want to regret later, you have to get this very important information from the seller or jeweler.

Black wedding bands from tungsten carbide are typically designed for men because they are wide. This is the reason why most jewelers offer designs of black tungsten wedding rings for male population. Because tungsten is quite hard, it can be difficult to shape & it may be hard to find elaborate designs in any jewelry shop. It is quite common to find plain black wedding bands that are embellished with gemstone or small diamond.

Makers of tungsten carbide rings need to combine tungsten ore in a powder form with various binders and sinter it all together at very high temperatures in order to achieve the desired result – a beautiful, polished and nearly indestructible tungsten carbide ring. A nickel binder is the preferred formulation for tungsten carbide rings, as many other binders can cause your ring to discolor with wear. Nickel- powder are superior for several reasons. Nickel- powder tungsten carbide is hypoallergenic, chemically inert and therefore will not oxidize, cause rashes, or irritate the skin. We do not use cobalt as it can have an adverse reaction with some wearer’s skin, sometimes causing a rash. Cobalt bonds with oils in the skin and leeches out of the ring resulting in oxidation. The oxidation appears similar to tarnished sliver, but cannot be removed by polishing or grinding. Nickel, on the other hand, does not bond with oil and therefore does not oxidize.
