Brain tumours affect people of all ages. There is a need for a better understanding of what causes them, how the brain reacts to them and how they behave and even greater need for better and more effective treatments. Any brain tumor is inherently serious and life-threatening because of its invasive and infiltrative character in the limited space of the intracranial cavity. However, brain tumors (even malignant ones) are not invariably fatal.

In order to put forward a stronger voice, the Brain Tumour Research group of charities united to form a representative body – The Brain Tumour Research Campaign. It was launched in 2008 specifically for fundraising for brain tumour research, and is a different organisation to its constituent members, it operates under its own steam.

The charity now has nationwide coverage. Within the Brain Tumour Research Group, there are sixteen brain tumour charities in the UK. Over 1 million was raised in 2008, when all sixteen charities banded together at first. The funds that the organisation raises are given directly to centres who need them, who are carrying out brain tumour research. In order to acquire funds, the centres apply to the organisation and are subjected to peer review.

Public awareness and the urgent need for research and funding for research are among the main concerns of the organisation. This fundraising should support the arrival of Britain’s first multi-disciplinary Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence, which is based in Charing Cross Hospital in London. Aiming to raise over 7 million every year, the BTRC hopes to accelerate progress in the research into brain tumours in the UK in order to make a real, tangible difference in the lives of current and future patients of brain tumours.

London’s Premier private member’s club Home House, has recently announced that their new charity will be the Brain Tumour Research Campaign. Home House has a long history of supporting British charities in need, and hope to offer more support, both monetary and otherwise to the BTRC.

Home House greets people from all walks of life, which is part of its appeal. Quite unlike many other private members venues, Home House is a place to enjoy leisure time or the perfect spot for a working day. Home house is London’s most Luxurious and Exclusive venue for hire in London, offering myriad events to discover new pastimes and exclusive experiences.
