What to Know About Branson Missouri Before You Go

April 16, 2017 · Posted in Travel

Vacation to the state of Missouri is often associated with visiting cities such as St. Louis or Kansas City. While big city life is nice, sometimes you just need to take a moment to unwind away from big cities. This makes Branson a great option, and it’s such a beautiful place to visit that people often find themselves returning again.

Branson is in the southern part of the state, nestled between the Ozark Mountains and the White River. Taking a vacation there is like combining the best parts of city life—live shows, wine tours, tourist museums, and more—with the charm of country life—white waters, horseback riding, cave tours, and more. There’s so much to love about it!

Planning Your Trip

Before traveling to Branson, there are a couple of things you want to take care of first.

Make sure you book a Branson resort early. The area is so popular that many places are booked as much as a year in advance, so the sooner you book your resort, the better.

Be sure to do your research on the area in advance so you know what to expect and what you might be interested in doing once you arrive. One of the best ways to do this is by talking to some of the locals online or over the phone before making plans. No one knows the area better than the people who live there.

Buy show tickets in advance. You can find extensive lists of the various shows along with their dates and showtimes online. If you have a particular interest in seeing a specific show on a certain date, make sure to buy the tickets before you go. This could also save you money.

Top Attractions

While Branson is known for its theater shows, there’s more to do in the area. Some of the most popular attractions will be crowded and may have long lines, so be prepared for that in advance. Here’s a quick list of some of the top non-show attractions in the area.

Wine Tasting: There are two wineries in the area, Mount Pleasant and Stone Hill. Depending on when you travel to Branson, the wineries may not be open every day. Check out their hours during your stay.

Hollywood Wax Museum: This mix of eclectic wax statues is a perfect way to entertain families, couples, seniors, or reunions. You can also purchase and All Access Pass and save on other area attractions!

Silver Dollar City: Enjoy unique dining, a cave tour, or a festival at this theme park. Want a little more thrill for your heart? Try the rollercoasters. If you can’t find a way to spend at least a whole day at Silver Dollar City, you’re vacationing wrong.

White Water: A great match for families or couples. It’s a water park adventure everyone will love. There are even water attractions for the littlest of kids, so no one is left out of the fun.

Zipline & Canopy Tour: Experience the Ozark Mountains with a unique guided tour of the canopy. If you have a flare for adventure, try the zipline adventure. You’ll want to make reservations in advance, though.

Butterfly Palace & Rainforest Adventure: Walk among thousands of exotic tropical butterflies, visit the rainforest science center, or talk a walk through the mirror maze. It’s a great way to spend your time. If you get a 3-day wristband, you can experience everything it has to offer.

Take your next vacation in Branson to the next level. Experience more than just shows. Stay for a week, or maybe more.
